Are you interested in meeting a famous ghost?
In the 1920's the Algonquin Hotel became the center of literary culture in Manhattan. The foremost literary writers, journalist, poets, and critics reunited to engage in creative discussions over lunch, and in the proceeding eight years the tradition became famously known as the "Round Table". The iconic group members included Dorthy Parker, Robert E. Sherwood, Alexander Woollcott, and George Kaufman to name just a few of the founders. With a growing membership over the years, the Round Table discussions inspired new ideas in American mid-century art and literature, and journalism; the concept for the New Yorker Magazine was conceived at one of the famous meetings in 1925!
The guests of this historic hotel have had several run-ins with poltergeist activities throughout the years. Pieces of furniture have moved without a known cause, strange chills are often felt in the corridors, guests have been followed by dismembered footsteps, and the sound of Dorothy Field's music has filled the space of a lonely elevator ride in the dark hours of night.
